History

In 1893 the Mother Church of this Parish was St. John the Evangelist at Gordon. In these early years the Parish of Gordon extended from Roseville to Hornsby. At this time there was no Anglican Church in Roseville, however there was a Sunday School as early as 1906 in the school that was later to become Roseville Girls College. In those days there was nothing but bush beyond the school and Boundary Street was a mere dirt track.

The early 1900’s saw moves to establish an Anglican church in Roseville. By 1909 plans were under way to build a church building. The original church building was built in 1913. It stood where our current church hall now stands. The first stone laid by the Archbishop can still be seen today in the foyer of the church hall. The vacant land which sloped down to Bancroft Ave was used for the local butcher’s horse which can be seen in this picture.
